CJ Gosling – Young Adult Novelist

Recently, I met CJ Gosling a writer, blogger and aspiring YA novelist at a post-workshop pub night in Nanaimo, BC.   We got talking about all sorts of social media opportunities for writers.  I told her about my home base theory … the idea that every writer needs a central place on the Internet.  Whether its a blog or a website, this digital parlour provides a place to share ideas, spark conversations and for readers to leave their calling cards.  CJ had already established a blog but asked me if  I would have a look at it as her Blog Doctor. The Book Project Nanaimo

Last Saturday, I had the pleasure of talking about book marketing and social media to a group of writers in Nanaimo as part of The Book Project. My fellow speakers included Crystal Stranaghan, Jared Hunt, Kim Plumley as well as Cathy Aniceto and Michelle Bigg from Aniceto & Bigg.

What a treat to talk to 55 writers at various stages of their careers.  The questions and interaction during the formal part of the course were wonderful with lots of great questions about copyright, costs and authenticity.  While I always enjoy teaching, for this group of students it was the informal connections that I enjoyed the most.
