WendyD Photography Strategy Day

Every once in a while you work with someone and it just clicks. For me, Wendy D is one of those people. Not only is she an amazing, creative, thoughtful photographer but she’s also a kind and generous person.  (That’s her work in the masthead of my blog. She really captured my love affair with my netbook computer, eh?)

Today, I co-facilitated a strategy session for Wendy’s company, WendyD Photography, with Kim Plumley, one of my colleauges at TheBookBroads.com.  After the session, Kim & I recorded a quick podcast. Have a listen to hear me talking about my Post-It note introduction exercise.

Northern Voice 2010

What an honour to be selected as a speaker for Northern Voice 2010, Canada’s blogging conference. Together with Kim Plumley and Peggy Richardson (we three are The Book Broads) I’ll be talking about “Flog Your Blog: How to Turn Your Blog Into A Book”.  The next phase of registration opens on April 1st and I hope to see lots of you there.

The Book Project Nanaimo

Last Saturday, I had the pleasure of talking about book marketing and social media to a group of writers in Nanaimo as part of The Book Project. My fellow speakers included Crystal Stranaghan, Jared Hunt, Kim Plumley as well as Cathy Aniceto and Michelle Bigg from Aniceto & Bigg.

What a treat to talk to 55 writers at various stages of their careers.  The questions and interaction during the formal part of the course were wonderful with lots of great questions about copyright, costs and authenticity.  While I always enjoy teaching, for this group of students it was the informal connections that I enjoyed the most.
