The Book Project Nanaimo

02.02.2010 by Angela Crocker // Leave a Comment

Last Saturday, I had the pleasure of talking about book marketing and social media to a group of writers in Nanaimo as part of The Book Project. My fellow speakers included Crystal Stranaghan, Jared Hunt, Kim Plumley as well as Cathy Aniceto and Michelle Bigg from Aniceto & Bigg.

What a treat to talk to 55 writers at various stages of their careers.  The questions and interaction during the formal part of the course were wonderful with lots of great questions about copyright, costs and authenticity.  While I always enjoy teaching, for this group of students it was the informal connections that I enjoyed the most. Thank You Seth Godin

01.06.2010 by Angela Crocker // Leave a Comment

In this fast pace world of social media, digital communication and constant connectivity,  I see Seth Godin as a voice of reason in the madness.  I greatly admire his succinct, thoughtful blog posts and today I got up to do a little dance when I read Bullhorns are overrated. Ask any of my clients or students and they will have heard my “quantity versus quality” speech. For me social media is about making meaningful connections with real people who share like interests. I have no interest in shouting to the masses and encourage those around me to follow the quality path as well. And today, here’s Seth Godin with the perfect analogy … so let’s all lose the bullhorn. I, for one, am listening.
