Orca Book Publishers
Since I learned to read around age 3, I have been a fan of children’s books. I collect picture books, enjoy novels intended for tweens & teens, read aloud to my son and generally act as advocate for children and literature whenever I have the opportunity. One of my long-time favourite publishing houses is Orca Book Publishers. Today, I attended a celebration of their books at Vancouver Kidsbooks and had the pleasure of meeting Cynthia Nugent, Sara Leach and John Wilson. Congratulations all on a fabulous new season.
DON’T PANIC
Recently I was wandering a favourite book and magazine fair in Vancouver called The Word On The Street. Someone had a left a business card on a bench that caught my eye with its big green letters that read “DON’T PANIC.”
Well, as a fan of Douglas Adams’ Hitchhikers’ Guide to the Galaxay series I was affronted on his behalf that anyone would try to capitalize on one of his signature phrases. [Read more…]
