My next Nanaimo workshop is called Social Media Content Workshop: Finding Fuel for Your Friends & Followers. I’ll be presenting this day long effort with my cohorts from The Book Broads – Kim Plumley and Peggy Richardson on Saturday, May 15, 2010 from 9:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. We’ll be at Origins at Longwood (6205 Oliver Rd., Nanaimo).
Here’s what it’s all about:
“Have you already invested some time and energy in social media marketing? Do you tweet? Are you LinkedIn? Does your Facebook fan page have fans? And how about your blog – is that all the buzz? Do you feel as though you’re doing all the right things but not getting anywhere? This is the workshop for you.
“Even if you’re only starting to dabble in social media you’ll find this workshop invaluable. Whatever your experience, this workshop is the perfect opportunity to learn something new and understand the value it can add to your organization. While The Book Broads connect over their shared passion for reading, they bring a diverse experience from many different industries to inform their social media activities. Today, we work with businesses not just in the book biz, but also in food and wine, real estate, high tech, consumer products and many other fields.
“Throughout the day The Book Broads will guide you through a series of lessons and exercises to focus your efforts to create social media content. Participants will go home with a plan they can implement right away. This plan will include a blog editorial calendar, concrete methods for creating content, suggestions for sparking dialogue and opportunities for community participation. We’ll also explore pacing those efforts and three ways to analyze the interactions. Participants will talk in broad (pun intended) terms about common social media tools for building communities, blogging, bookmarking, information sharing, news sources and photo & video feeds and how to use these tools.
“This course assumes participants have a working knowledge of common social media tools such as Facebook, Twitter, blogging tools, YouTUBE and Flickr and are comfortable with social media terminology such as tweet & hashtag. Only a minimal amount of time will be spent on the technical how-tos. This course is about generating content and engagement strategies. Participants are encouraged to bring their laptops to participate fully in the class and to prepare plans to put into action immediately. The venue’s Wi-Fi will be available to participants.”
